JesusVerse Imaginary IMAX
MY HEAD MAKES MOVIES
I keep calling my thought pieces movies.
And I’m realizing that isn’t just a metaphor.
Humans have this astonishing God-given power I call sacred imagination. Give us words—spoken or written—and somehow our minds start building sets, casting characters, supplying voices, creating pictures, filling in missing details, and even generating feelings.
We make movie approximations in our heads.
A writer doesn’t actually put the movie into my mind. He gives me words. My imagination does the rendering.
Which means a thought piece can be a kind of written movie.
And suddenly my little Jesus-Greg WORLD has an IMAX theater.
The screen is inside my head.
The projector is imagination.
The source material might be something I read, hear, remember, or believe.
And when I deliberately turn that imagination toward Jesus—watching for Him, imagining His presence, rehearsing His stories, seeing my ordinary life through His story—I’m essentially saying:
“Jesus, I’ve got this remarkable movie-making machine in my head. What shall we watch together?”
And that, really, is the essence of Jesus TV: deliberately using this God-given movie-making capacity to watch for, imagine, remember, and experience MORE Jesus.
Welcome to the JesusVerse Imaginary IMAX.
