Jesus Rules

GAME ON.
GAME ON.

Jesus Rules Sketch

I imagine, in a sacred way, that God is running reality like a learning game—with hidden mechanics and patterns. Like Mr. Miyagi in The Karate Kid, He doesn’t explain everything upfront but invites discovery.

(Note to self: I must learn to trust that Jesus Christ has good reasons for why He allows and/or purposes certain things to happen in my life.)

As I grow closer to Jesus Christ, it feels like He encourages me to “sacredly guess” why things are happening.

“Greg,” Jesus says, “Why do you think I’m having you do this thing or that thing?… Go on… give it a guess.”

So, I sense Jesus is inviting me to approach life like a student-scientist: forming hypotheses about how God works, writing down tentative “rules” or patterns— while staying humble that there may be exceptions or things I don’t fully understand.

(Note to self: Jesus does head-fakes.)

For example: Jesus may not visibly appear in my daily life, but it seems meaningful—and even encouraged— to live as if He is always present with me, guiding and accompanying me.

(Note to self: Jesus is invisible. Get used to it. But also go MAX on sacredly imagining, believing Jesus is with me, hanging out with me, singing songs with me on Jesus TV, etc. I sense that Jesus wants me to go MAX on that kind of belief!)

Based on this Jesus-has-plans-and-is-following-some-rules-himself framework, what are possible “rules” or patterns that might describe how this kind of God-guided reality works?

(Note to self: There are probably 100 or 500 more of these “possible” rules. Identify them with Jesus and write them down.)

20 Possible “Rules”
(Sacred Hypotheses)

// Growth is often disguised as inconvenience.

// Repetition signals importance—lessons return until integrated.

// Clarity is usually earned through participation, not observation.

// What you’re avoiding may be pointing directly at the lesson.

// Love is the metric—choices tend to be evaluated by how much love they express or withhold.

// Small acts of integrity matter more than grand intentions.

// You’re guided more through nudges than interruptions.

// Silence can be instruction, not absence.

// The “next step” is usually enough—you’re rarely shown the full path.

// People in your life often function as mirrors or messengers.

// Resistance can indicate either danger or growth—discernment is part of the game.

// You’re allowed to experiment—mistakes are data, not failure.

// Gratitude sharpens perception of guidance.

// When something feels deeply aligned and peaceful, it’s worth paying attention.

// You’re not forced—freedom of choice is a core rule.

// Meaning tends to emerge in hindsight more than foresight.

// What you practice internally (thoughts, beliefs) shapes what you notice externally.

// Periods of confusion often precede new understanding.

// Acting with courage tends to unlock the next layer.
