JESUS EDITS MY SPEECH

JESUS EDITS MY SPEECH

Proverbs 3:5–6
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own own own understanding.
6 In all all all thy ways acknowledge acknowledge acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths…. and edit your speech….and probably edit your Bible.

Jesus is building a new Jesus WORLD for me to live in. I get to help Him build it.
(It’s like we are building a treehouse together. And Jesus is the adult. I am the toddler.)
We call it “My Jesus-Greg WORLD.”

One of the building principles that has become clear—a general direction Jesus has been taking me as we remodel (redeem, redeem, redeem) My Jesus-Greg WORLD—is the way Jesus has me RE-imagine (new believe) new think, new talk, and new act about things, situations, and people in my life.

In particular… the inner narration of life has begun to change. What once felt like purely (my) personal interpretation becomes reframed as participation in a story where Christ is actively present. In this way of seeing (being), Jesus has used my language itself as part of my new reality discipleship.

Jesus does (I believe)—like a parent correcting a child’s English—make small (important) edits to my speech—sometimes happening almost automatically (“no Greg, this is how we say that now”)—He shifts the focus from recognizing my human effort (alone) to His divine involvement.

I have been noticing this in real time while I’m speaking (or leaving a text message for a friend, for example): I’ve caught myself revising a sentence (and then realizing immediately that Jesus Himself, through His Holy Spirit, is revising the sentence) so that, in that sentence, Jesus is acknowledged as an active agent in the situation.

Meaning, I’ve come to understand that this is not simply self-editing I am doing, but an otherworldly intervention—coming from the influence of a tutoring Spirit guiding perception and language toward a more Christ-centered narrative.

Over time, these small adjustments accumulate. Each one slightly reframes the story I tell myself and others: instead of “I did,” “they did,” or “it happened,” the language increasingly recognizes Christ as an actor, director, and sustaining presence within ordinary life.

Below are some examples that show the pattern that Jesus has begun to establish in my new tongue—where an initial, natural phrasing of mine (is interrupted midstream often) is followed by the Spirit-Tutor corrected phrasing (of ours) that is a more Christ-acknowledging revision, one that reflects where Jesus is taking my mind and heart via speech and story.
