A Thirty-Thousand-Foot Question
What is it all about?
Before you read about Playing the Jesus Game , it may help to understand a recurring pattern that has unfolded throughout more than a decade of building My Jesus-Greg WORLD with Jesus. Every week—or at least very often—it seems He gently---'wroughts upon me---invites me to rise above whatever I have been building and asks, from what feels like thirty thousand feet in the air, "What is it all about?" or "Why are you doing this?" Those recurring questions have produced many answers over the years, each one revealing a larger pattern than the last. Playing the Jesus Game represents one of those answers. Jesus has been teaching me to see discipleship as learning to be---'wrought upon by that Spirit (Alma 34:34; Alma 18:34-35)'--- that plays an entirely different game—with a new scoreboard, new commandments, new ways of measuring success, and new strength required to play well.
